The Trip From Hell

Okay...I know it's a little late, but I thought you all would appreciate my funny travel story!

I left home to come back up to Rexburg on Sunday morning. The first two hours were okay, but then we stopped at a small gas station. As soon as we went to start going again, the car started making this really loud sound and started smoking in the back. So we went back to the gas station where 6 guys-including one supposed Mormon homeless guy-came over to take a look at it. They all agreed that we would be able to get it to Reno which was only about 40 miles away from where we were. So off we went again...but five minutes after getting onto the freeway-our car totally died!!! A really nice couple pulled over and hooked us to his car to take us to Truckee...but then the rope broke. So then we had to wait almost an hour for a tow truck that was only ten miles away, go to Truckee to switch tow trucks, drive to Reno in the tow truck, and we finally got dropped off at the mechanics place. Then we had to walk across town to the airport to get our rental car. We finally didn't get going again until almost six (keep in mind that the car broke down in the first place just after ten).

My first shuttle was supposed to be leaving Prove at nine on Sunday so of course I had to reschedule it for noon the next day. We finally got to Provo at two in the morning and I went to crash at a friends house. I got dropped off at the bus stop a little too early so I just waited...and then I got on the WRONG BUS! It took me all around Provo and then back to where they picked me up. So I had to reschedule...AGAIN...for the next shuttle to Rexburg which wasn't leaving til 4:30. I decided to sneak into the Marriot center (I'm fairly certain it was closed) and work on my Book of Mormon final for a few hours. It came to be 4 and I decided to head to the bus stop again so I would be sure to get on the right bus. 4:30 came and went and at 4:45 I got a call from the shuttle company. Turns out I was in the wrong spot. I had to walk across the parking lot of the Marriot center to get to the shuttle. I finally got on and there was only one pretty cute guy on there so I settled in for a pleasant drive to Rexburg. Wrong again.

First off, both the other passanger and the bus driver started cussing so I put my headphones in to block them out. Second, that bus was only taking me to the Salt Lake City Airport where I had to wait for an hour for the actual shuttle to come pick my up. Finally we got on and were headed out.

The bus ride wasn't too bad. Except that I fell off the seat while I was sleeping, lost my shoes...twice, ripped a hole in my favorite jacket, froze my butt off, and smacked my head on the arm rest. I finally get back to school and I get off the bus to get my luggage. (I swear I looked like a mental patient who's been drunk for a week straight!) As I was standing there waiting for my luggage, the one guy that I had been crushing on so bad the whole semester comes walking by me with a hot bombshell blonde. Thankfully he didn't see me, but I'm standing there-haven't showered for two days, breaking out, sweaty and oily, huge headache, and totally stinky-and I'm thinking, "Yep...cuz my trip wasn't bad enough. I totally could have done without that!"

Alex met me as I was walking back to her place and I was having the hardest time trying to roll my small suitcase up the walk! It kept falling over!

It was an interesting and very, very, VERY long trip home from my Thanksgiving break. But I still would have done it all over again to see me family. But next time I'm flying!!!
